Andrew Mukuba’s extensive college career has come to an end.
When he made the decision to transfer to the University of Texas, he knew it would be his last one. As a true freshman at Clemson in 2021, he received Freshman All-American honors. Mukuba recorded 149 tackles during a three-year span with the Tigers.
The LBJ High School alumnus ended up leaving Clemson to come home, becoming the third of the proclaimed 512 boys — 512 referring to the zip code of Travis County, where Michael Taaffe and Jahdae Barron are also from. Staying true to his core, Mukuba returned to Austin and had his best season yet. And by large margins.
In his time at Clemson the defensive back recorded one interception. Mukuba recorded five interceptions since his commitment to Texas on Dec. 18, 2023.
His move back to Austin was well thought out as said on the “Behind The Facemask” podcast that he “wasn’t getting any better” at Clemson. Mukuba helped himself as well as a stout defense, by providing solid run support with a career-high 69 tackles from the safety position compared to his career high at Clemson of 53.
In a feature piece on the four-star safety in 2020 by Dave Campbell’s Texas Football, Mukuba told a story of walking four miles as a child to retrieve water for his family in Zimbabwe. Makuba describes his faith throughout his process of declaring for the draft.
“With that being said, I am humbled and incredibly excited to say I am officially declaring for the 2025 NFL Draft.”
Mukuba and the Longhorn defense held Ohio State to less than 100 yards rushing, but while facing Cam Skattebo and the Arizona State Sun Devils allowed over 200 yards rushing.
The NFL Draft will take place in Green Bay from April 24 to April 26.
