As days get shorter, the air gets crisper, old sweaters defrost and students begin looking for ways to get into the fall spirit. With local restaurants releasing their fall menus filled with pumpkin, apple and maple treats, The Daily Texan compiled a list of five restaurants near campus with seasonal menus, diving into the flavors of the new season.
Kerbey Lane Cafe, 2606 Guadalupe St.
With its iconic all-day breakfast, Kerbey Lane Cafe, which is celebrating its 45th anniversary, is a campus staple. The restaurant re-released its classic fall menu, featuring housemade pumpkin-flavored pancakes and french toast. Additionally, it is offering a Pumpkin Pie Latte, containing espresso, pumpkin simple syrup, milk and cinnamon.
Jo’s Coffee, 701 W 24th St.
Many coffee shops offer the classic pumpkin pie latte, but Jo’s Coffee is also adding to the fall flavor palate with unique specialty drinks. Marshmallow-topped Texas Bonfire Mocha, maple-flavored Flap Jacks Cold Brew and cinnamon-spiced Apple Chai-der all offer enough in-season caffeine to get sleep-deprived students through their midterms.
Sweetgreen, 2234 Guadalupe St.
While pumpkin, cinnamon and maple are fall sweet treat classics, Sweetgreen offers healthier craving crushers, with autumn editions of their Harvest Bowl and Kale Caesar Salad, adding toppings like maple-glazed brussels sprouts, roasted sweet potatoes, candied pumpkin seeds and jammy roasted tomatoes. Additionally, the restaurant offers a new side dish of maple-glazed brussels and sweet potatoes.
CàPhê.in Coffee, 3016 Guadalupe St. B175
Recently opened in March, CàPhê.in Coffee has already grown into a go-to for many coffee and matcha enjoyers. This Vietnamese-style coffee shop is getting into the season’s spirits, offering pumpkin creme variants of their Viet-Cano drip coffee and Saigon lattes, as well as their hojicha and matcha teas.
Jeni’s Ice Creams, 4616 Triangle Ave. Suite #200If sipping on a pumpkin spice latte in 80-degree weather feels a bit odd, try taking a trip north to cool down with ice cream. Jeni’s Ice Creams’ fall collection consists of five varied flavors — brown butter almond brittle, caramel apple crumble, darkest chocolate, miso butterscotch brownie and skillet cinnamon roll. Although it’s further from campus, UT students can use their student ID perks to get a free ride there, taking the CapMetro 1 or 801 routes northbound to Triangle Station.
