San Jose fails to convert a fourth down in the red zone. With ten minutes left in the fourth quarter, the Spartans will turn the ball over to Texas.
After losing last Saturday to Ohio State, the Texas Longhorns look to bounce back against San Jose State in its home opener.
The Spartans also lost their opening game of the season, falling to Central Michigan 16-14 at home. A late field goal by the Chippewas Cade Graham sealed the deal, handing San Jose State an 0-1 record to start its season.
Junior running back Quintrevion Wisner will not be playing today, leaving room for sophomore running back Jerrick Gibson and redshirt freshman Christian Clark to make their marks on the field.
To earn its first win of the season, Texas has to find its offensive rhythm. Last week oversaw struggles in the vertical threat, with junior quarterback Arch Manning failing to find receivers until late in the fourth quarter. This, along with converting in the red zone and accumulating less penalties from the offensive line, will make or break Texas football as it continues through it’s non-conference schedule.
