Texas Wins! Texas dominates Sam Houston State 55-0 and moves to 3-1. They have the next weekend off before starting conference play by taking on the Florida Gators in Gainesville.
The No. 8 Texas Longhorns will host the winless Sam Houston Bearkats in the fourth week of the college football season.
Texas, coming off a subpar victory over the University of Texas at El Paso last week, has a prove-it match to play at Darrell K. Royal Memorial Stadium. The questions surrounding Arch Manning have been brewing throughout the first month of the season. Now, there’s one final chance to show what he’s got before conference play begins. With junior receiver DeAndre Moore back in the lineup, Manning has some more flame to his receiver room’s fire.
Sam Houston State features an air-raid offense that helped the Bearkats reach a 10-3 season last year capped off with a bowl victory against Georgia Southern. But now at 0-3, the recipe does not seem to be working. Starting quarterback senior Hunter Watson has yet to throw a touchdown pass this year and tallied just 310 passing yards on the season.
DKR will be shut down for the Texas fanbase until Nov. 1 when Diego Pavia and his Commodores come into Austin. In fact, after the Bearkats travel back down the I-10 Eastbound, only three games will be left to play in the Royal Texas stadium this year.
But for now, Texas looks to finish their nonconference schedule with a bang. For an offense that has disappointed in the first month of the season, now is the time to win back the faith and prove its value.
