Down goes little brother. Texas in a dominate second half secures the win against the No. 3 Texas A&M Aggies. Final Score 27-17.
It’s a rivalry that goes back to 1894, and it’s one that is finally renewed in Darrell K Royal Memorial Stadium, as the No. 16 Texas Longhorns are set to host the No. 3 Texas A&M Aggies on their home turf for the first time since 2010.
Two of college football’s most well-known quarterbacks will face off under the lights. Arch Manning, for Texas, had a slow start to the season, but has stepped up in recent weeks. In his past four games, Manning is averaging 328.5 passing yards a game, and has racked up 14 total touchdowns.
Marcel Reed, the sophomore dual-threat for the Aggies, has had a great season so far, leading Texas A&M to its best ranking since 1995 in an undefeated 11-0 season. Reed has thrown for 2,752 yards and 25 touchdowns on just eight interceptions.
In 119 games played, Texas has dominated, going 77-37-5 in its history. In the 21st century alone, the Longhorns have won 10 of the past 13 meetings. In Austin, the Longhorns have won 46 of their 59 total meetings.
With Texas’ potential playoff hopes on the line, and Texas A&M’s undefeated season at risk, both teams have everything to lose, but also a lot to gain.
What a perfect fit for a legendary rivalry, and what an impeccable conclusion to a regular season.
