The Longhorns spent the latter part of spring break in sunny Fullerton, Calif., facing some difficult competition at the Judi Garman Classic.
Texas went 3-2 over the weekend, and improved to 23-6 for the season.
The Longhorns pulled off a grueling 1-0 win against No. 7 Arizona State thanks to the heroics of third baseman Nadia Taylor. Taylor blasted a seventh-inning home run to propel the Longhorns to victory.
Texas also beat No. 4 Michigan 5-3 in the team’s most impressive win on the weekend. Catcher Amy Hooks provided the source of offense for the Longhorns against the Wolverines, scoring two runs and 2 RBI. Texas came out on top over San Jose State 13-8 while dropping games to Louisville, 3-1 and Cal-State Fullerton, 3-1, head coach Connie Clark’s alma mater.
The Longhorns will take on Texas State on Wednesday at San Marcos.
