Every Monday we’ll provide a list of the top three opinion-worthy events to expect during the coming week.
1. The last day to register to vote in the 2012 election is Oct. 9 You can get a voter registration application at www.utexas.gov/register-to-vote
2. Abigail Fisher's case against The University of Texas will be heard by the U.S. Supreme Court on Wednesday, Oct. 10. Fisher, a rejected UT applicant, is suing the University on grounds that because UT uses race as a factor in its non Top Ten Percent plan admissions, she was denied entrance to UT-Austin in favor of equally or less qualified minority candidates. If the Supreme Court rules in her favor, it would likely end affirmative action in college admissions.
3. Vice President Joe Biden and vice presidential candidate Paul Ryan will go head-to-head in the second debate of the 2012 election season on Thursday, Oct. 11. The debate, which will be held at Centre College in Danville, Kentucky, will air at 8 p.m. on all major news and cable networks. It will also be available for live online streaming.
