Longhorns vs Oklahoma Halftime Update

Texas quarterback David Ash is hit hard by Oklahoma defensive end R.J. Washington.

When a blocked extra point attempt less than five minutes into the game is the best play a team made in the half, it’s in trouble.

That’s exactly the situation Texas is in, as Oklahoma leads the Longhorns 36-2 at halftime.

Oklahoma started out the game with a quick drive for a touchdown, but the Longhorns seemingly swung the momentum after Chis Wayley blocked the PAT and Quandre Diggs returned it to the house for two points.

But from there Oklahoma dominated every aspect of the game.

The Sooners gained 417 yards of offense to Texas’ 53. The Longhorns defense couldn’t tackle – two of Oklahoma’s long touchdown runs came on plays when Texas missed upwards of two tackles – the offense couldn’t move the ball and even the special teams made mistakes.

Oklahoma’s backup quarterback, Blake “Belldozer” Bell ran for four touchdowns alone, and the starter Landry Jones managed to throw for a respectable 201 yards himself.

The Texas offense couldn’t find any traction, gaining only two first downs the whole first half, and on the very next play on both possessions David Ash threw an interception.
