Texas freshman Murphy Bromberg won the platform diving event on the final day of the UT Diving Invitational after decimating the field by more than 50 points. The Ohio native totaled 359.30 points and took the lead for good over, then leader, Hawaii’s Lauren Hall on her third dive which was a back armstand with three somersaults in the tuck position.
Bromberg continues to build on the success of this past summer where she placed first in the platform competition at the AT&T National Diving Championships.
Sophomore Kristina Hoffman placed fifth and junior Emma Ivory-Ganja was fourth with 280.40 points after winning the 3-meter event Thursday evening.
Longhorn divers will return to competition in December with the USA Diving Winter Nationals where senior Maren Taylor looks to regain her competitive form and lead the team onto the podium.
