The four-and-a-half blocks of Speedway from 21st Street to Dean Keaton are to be confirmed in their present use for pedestrians only.
To the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board, UT submitted a total “new construction Speedway Mall” cost of $130 million.
Details provided in an “all-hands” UT email state that “Phase I” of the project, which will now be undertaken, is to cost $36 million and the rest of the project cost will be met in the future.
At a time when the costs of going to UT are pressing family income, instead of a speedway of golden bricks, how about a few signs that say “No Automobiles”?
