At approximately 1 p.m. Monday afternoon the UT Police Department received two reports — one of a disturbance and one about the location of an aggravated assault with a knife on the 2000 block of Whitis Avenue.
According to an email sent to the UT-Austin community shortly after the incident, the suspect and victim are not part of the UT community and are believed to have known each other. The suspect fled the scene on foot and as of Monday afternoon, had not been apprehended.
A witness described the suspect as “a black male, approximately age 30, 6'00" tall, around 290 lbs, large build, long dreadlocks with doo-rag, brown eyes and was wearing a blue muscle shirt with UT logo, grey shorts and armed with a knife,” according to the email.
UTPD has urged anyone with information about the assault or the suspect to call 911 immediately.
