Two apartment complexes located on 22nd and San Gabriel streets were evacuated shortly after 3 p.m. due to a gas leak, according to a tweet sent out from Austin Fire Department.

Austin Fire Department specialist David McGuire said the leak occurred due to road work which damaged a pipe outside the apartment complexes on San Gabriel Street.
Texas Gas and AFD are on scene at this time. Portions of San Gabriel Street near the incident are currently closed off.
The estimated repair time at 4 p.m. was one hour.
