Accio! All Wizards, witches, magical creatures and muggles are cordially invited to attend the 37th birthday of The Boy Who Lived. Please feel free to apparate at the celebrations below both on Harry Potter’s birthday on the 31st and beyond.
Harry Potter Night at the Round Rock Express: July 31
Catch the Snitch! Aside from the lack of flying broomsticks, a night of baseball will be the muggle world equivalent to a night of quidditch in the Hogwarts stands. Understandable for those magical and non-magical, this event will give attendees a chance to visit the sorting hat and find your destiny, a stop at platform 9 ¾ and include a pre-game Quidditch lesson by Do512 Family and UT’s own Texas Quidditch Team. Hot dogs and sodas will be sold for $1, so please make sure to exchange your Galleon Gold currency. Robe and wand optional.
Happy Birthday Harry Potter Arts and Crafts at Austin Public Library: July 31
For younger magical creatures or wizards and muggles young at heart who lack Hermione’s Time Turner, this event will take visitors back to their childhood. Join the Howson Branch of the Austin Public Library for Harry Potter-themed arts and crafts, including how to make your House themed journal and creating your own magical wand. There will be materials on hand, so there is no need to make an additional stop at Diagon Alley beforehand.
Harry Potter Sorting Hat Painting Event: July 31
For those yet to be assigned a House at Hogwarts, this event will teach you how to paint your own sorting hat. Hosted by Art by the Glass Studio at Pacific Rim Sushi & Yakitori Lounge, the event will also feature Harry Potter-themed prizes and allow you to customize your creation with your House colors. Food and drinks will be available, so make sure to arrive early to order and get your supplies. Beware, paintings have been known to come to life when you arrive back to Hogwarts.
Harry Potter Trivia (Chamber of Secrets): August 6
Think you have what it takes to beat the Basilisk? This event at Hops and Grain Brewing will test your magical knowledge about The Chamber of Secrets for a chance to win a ticket to a wand-making class taught by Austin’s very own Worthwich School of witchcraft and wizardry. The school will also be hosting the event, so make sure to come prepared to face off against the most knowledgeable in the realm and stop by to chat with them about the wizarding life afterwards.
Harry Potter Trivia Night at the Flying Saucer: August 9
This second installment of Harry Potter trivia will be sure to put even Hermione Granger’s knowledge to the test. This location will feature an expansive questionnaire, so everything from the Wizarding World of Harry Potter will be fair game. All participants must register through an Eventbrite portal to be eligible to test their skills against the best and brightest in a competition almost as thrilling as the Triwizard Tournament. Part of each ticket fee will go toward charity.
Please RSVP by owl accordingly and remember to park any flying cars or broomsticks in the specifically designated locations.
