On Tuesday, the Austin Police Department arrested two males involved in a physical altercation on 24th Street and Rio Grande Street, according to public information officer Tara Long.

Long said a call came in at 8:23 a.m. about a disturbance, and the two suspects were arrested at 8:55 a.m. The UT Police Department assisted with the call, Long said.

Long said she did not know if the suspects were UT students.

UT sent a campus-wide alert via text at 9:36 a.m. warning students and faculty to stay away from the area where the altercation occurred. At 10:04 a.m. a second text alert went out notifying the campus that the situation was resolved.

Jules Chan, UTPD communications coordinator for public safety, said UTPD sent out an alert because of the altercation’s location near campus.
