Former University President Bill Powers fell outside of the School of Law on Wednesday and was taken to Dell Seton Medical Center for “treatment and tests,” according to the Austin American-Statesman.
“Our dear colleague Bill Powers suffered a fall outside the Law School earlier today,” Law Dean Ward Farnsworth wrote in an email to his colleagues. “Be assured that he’s getting good care.”
Gary Susswein, UT's chief communications officer, said Powers and his family appreciate the support from the community.
“His family is touched by the outpouring of support and love they have received over the past day,” Susswein said in an email.
Powers, 72, served as University President from 2006 to 2015 and is now a professor at the law school.
