Sara Martinez Tucker, the head of the UT System’s governing board, told two UT officials she plans to step down, according to The Texas Tribune.
Tucker, whose term as a regent is set to expire in 2021, told officials she will step down on January 15, 2019, and did not give a reason for her resignation, according to the Tribune.
Tucker, previously the under secretary of education for President George W. Bush, was named a regent in 2015 and elected the board’s chair in 2017.
