The UT Police Department arrested a man at the corner of 24th and Guadalupe streets after responding to a report of a man yelling threats in the Texas Union Building at 11:15 p.m. Monday night, according to a campus-wide email.
The man appears to be unaffiliated with UT, and he was unarmed, UTPD spokesperson Noelle Newton said.
Austin police detained the man after he ran from the Union toward Guadalupe Street.
Newton said as of 11:55, there is no threat to the UT community, and students do not need to avoid the area.
The UTPD Criminal Investigations Unit is actively investigating this incident and encourages students to call 512-471-4441 and select extension 9 if they have any further information.
