Freezing temperatures, unsafe road conditions and low power resources were all on the forecast last week across Austin.  

The Daily Texan has compiled a list of stores near campus and will continue to update this list with hours of operation until restaurant operations stabilize. 


Restaurants offering free meals

Saturday Feb. 20

Tacodeli located at 12001 Burnet Rd. will have 300 free tacos Saturday from noon until supplies last. Limit is 2 tacos per person.

At Whitfield’s BBQ, located at 8901 Brodie Ln., there will be 100 plates available Saturday at 12:30 p.m.

Revival Coffee at 1405 E. 7th Street will have 500 meals Saturday at 2 p.m.

Charoen Express located at 5610 N. Interstate Hwy 35 will be giving out 200 free meals. Options are chicken fried rice and veggie fried rice. 

Honest Mary’s located at 9828 Great Hills Trail will be giving out free bowls with vegetarian and chicken options Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Emoji’s Grilled Cheese Bar at 1818 E. 12th St. will be serving free meals starting at noon with the mention of “Feeding the Village” upon ordering. 

Rolling Rooster, with locations at 13717 North Mopac Service Rd. and 1104 E. 11th St., will be serving free meals starting at noon with the mention of “Feeding the Village” upon ordering. 

Gossip Shack located at 2709 Rogge Ln. will be serving free meals starting at noon with the mention of “Feeding the Village” upon ordering. 

Kinda Tropical located at 3501 E. 7th St. will be giving out 200 free meals Saturday starting at noon. until supplies run out.

JP’s Pancake Company located at 2512 Rio Grande St. will be giving away 300 free meals starting at 1:30 p.m.

Contigo located at 2027 Anchor Ln. will have free meals from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday. There are vegetarian options.

Salty Cargo located at 1700 W. Parmer Ln. will have free meals available Saturday from noon to 7 p.m.

Southside Flying Pizza located at 2206 S. Congress Ave. will have free meals available Saturday from noon to 9 p.m. There are vegetarian options.

Moody’s Kitchen + Bar located at 2530 Guadalupe Street will be giving out free meals Saturday from 1 p.m. until closing to students who bring their UT ID.

Hillside Farmacy located at 1209 E 11th Street will be having free meals available Saturday from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m.

On Saturday at 4:30 p.m, there will be 300 meals available in the Co-op Food Court located at  411 W. 23rd St.

Grocery Stores 

OPEN: 

Austin and Central Texas H-E-B store operating hours are 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday, according to their website.

The Wheatsville Food Co-op at 4001 S. Lamar Blvd. will be open Saturday until 10 p.m. The Wheatsville Food Co-op at 3101 Guadalupe St. will be open Saturday until 8 p.m.

The Target located at 2025 Guadalupe St. is open Saturday until 10 p.m.

The Targets located at 901 E. 5th St. and 2300 W. Ben White Blvd. will both be open Saturday from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., according to their answering machines. 

Whole Foods at 11920 Domain Dr. will be open Saturday until 9 p.m., according to their website.

Whole Foods at E. 5th Street will be open Saturday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

As of Saturday, The Daily Texan did not receive a response from The Quarters Market at 2222 Rio Grande St. 
 

Restaurants 

OPEN: 

Look Noodles & More located at 1914 Guadalupe St. will be open Saturday until 9:30 pm.

Potbelly Sandwich Shop on Guadalupe Street is open Saturday. Closing time is currently unknown.

Kerbey Lane Cafe on Guadalupe Street will be open Saturday from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.

UTea Pho is open Saturday until 10:30 p.m.

Texas French Bread is open Saturday until 2 p.m. and will reopen at 5 p.m., according to store employees.

The Wendy’s located in Jester will be open Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Madam Mam’s located at 510 W. 26th St. will be open Saturday until 9:15 p.m.

Jimmy John’s on Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. is open Saturday until 9 p.m. 

Raising Cane’s located on Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. is open Saturday until 3:30 p.m.

Cabo Bob’s at 2828 Rio Grande St. is open Saturday from noon to 10 p.m.

 Kesos Tacos on Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. is open Saturday until 8 p.m.

Chick-fil-A on Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. is open Saturday until 10 p.m.

Chipotle on Guadalupe Street will be open Saturday until 10 p.m., according to their answering machine. 

ThunderCloud Subs on Guadalupe Street is open Saturday until 9 p.m. 

P. Terry’s on Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. is open Saturday until the product runs out. 

Cava on Guadalupe Street is open Saturday until 4:30 p.m.

William C. Powers Student Activity Center Chick-fil-A is closed.

In-N-Out Burger on Guadalupe Street is closed until further notice.

Roppolo’s Pizzeria on Guadalupe St. is closed, according to their answering machine on Saturday.

Starbucks on 24th Street. is closed.

The West Campus Market at 709 W. 22nd St. is open Saturday until midnight, according to store employees.

The Walgreens Pharmacy at 45th and Guadalupe streets is open Saturday, according to their answering machine.

Neuces Mart located at 2700 Nueces St. is open Saturday until midnight. 

Bodega on Rio at 2101 Rio Grande St. is open Saturday until midnight, according to store employees.

The CVS store at 2222 Guadalupe St. is open Saturday until midnight, according to their website.

The 7-Eleven at 411 W. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. is open 24 hours, according to their website. However, as of Saturday, The Daily Texan did not receive a response.

Orange Market located at 910 W. 25th St. is open 24 hours, according to store employees.

Forty Acres Pharmacy at 100 W. Dean Keeton St. is closed Saturday.

Coffee Shops

OPEN: 

Lucky Lab Coffee Co. on San Antonio Street is currently open and will close at 5 p.m. Saturday.

Flightpath Coffeehouse located at 5011 Duval St. is open Saturday until 5 p.m. They are serving hot coffee and tea with alternative milk options as they are out of regular milk, according to store employees.

Friday Feb. 19: 

Chi’Lantro BBQ located at 11005 Burnet Rd. will have 400 meals available Friday from 10:30 a..m. to 10 p.m., according to KXAN.

Old Thousand North located at 4805 Burnet Rd. will have 100 meals available Friday from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m., according to KXAN.

Old Thousand East located at 1000 E. 11th St. will have 100 meals available Friday from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m., according to KXAN.

Starting Friday at 11 a.m., Buenos Aires Cafe located at 1201 E. 6th St. will have 200 meals available, according to KXAN. 

Starting Friday at 12 p.m., Tacodeli at 7301 Burnet Rd. and 12001 Burnet Rd. will have 1,000 tacos available across the two locations, according to KXAN. 

East Austin Culinary School located at 2100 Robert Browning St. will have 200 taco meals available Friday starting at 3 p.m., according to KXAN.

Revival Coffee located at 1405 E 7th St. will be giving out 500 meals Friday starting at 2 p.m. until food runs out. 

Twin Lion Chinese Restaurant located at 4815 W. Braker Ln. will have 200 meals available Friday starting at 12 p.m., according to KXAN.

China Harbor located at 801 E. William Cannon Dr. will have 300 meals available Friday beginning at 1 p.m., according to KXAN.

Phonatic located at 2525 W. Anderson Ln. will have 200 meals available Friday starting at 2 p.m., according to KXAN.

Starting at 1:30 p.m. Friday, students are handing out Hopdoddy in the CO-OP parking lot. Will go on until supplies run out. 

Starting at 5 p.m. Friday, there will be another round of Hopdoddy meals behind the CO-OP in the parking lot (where food trucks are located).

Starting at 3 p.m. Friday, Moody’s Kitchen + Bar will be giving out free meals to students who bring an ID with them, according to student sources.

Starting SATURDAY at 9:45 a.m. in the CO-OP parking lot, at 411 W 23rd St, free Tacodeli and Rudy’s BBQ tacos will be served. Period products, snacks, masks and hand sanitizer will also be available. 

Thursday Feb. 18: 

Vic and Al’s at 2406 Manor Rd. is offering free plates of jambalaya, butter beans and red beans starting at 1 p.m until supplies run out. 

Juan in a Million at 2300 E. Cesar Chavez St. is offering 1,000 free tacos prepaid by Michael Huff, former Texas defensive back, until they run out. 

Chi’Lantro BBQ at 1201 Barbara Jordan Blvd. and is offering 100 free warm meals starting at 1:30 p.m. 

Sip Pho at 512 W 29th St. is offering free beef tenderloin pho, chicken pho or chicken rice plate until supplies run out, starting at noon Thursday. 

JP’s Pancake Company at 2512 Rio Grande St. will be giving out free pancakes Thursday starting at 1 p.m. to students. You must mention Kendra Scott. 

Lazarus Brewing Co. is offering free food at 1902 E. 6th St. starting Thursday at noon. 

As of Thursday at 4:30 p.m. tacos are no longer available at the Texas Union, but there will be pizza at 6 p.m., according to student sources. 

As of Thursday at 3 p.m. Roppolo’s Pizzeria on 2604 Guadalupe St. is offering 50 free personal pizzas paid for by Texas women’s basketball junior forward Charli Collier. 

CM Smokehouse at 2027 S. Lamar Blvd. is offering 275 free meals of brisket or pork taco with chips, duck or turkey wings starting at 3 p.m. Thursday, according to Austin360.  

Dipping Springs Tender Co. at 979 Springdale Rd is offering 50 meals of chicken tenders and sides from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday, according to Austin360.

Flyrite Chicken on 2129 E. 7th St. is offering 150 chicken sandwiches starting noon on Thursday until supplies last according to Austin360. 

Hesita at 607 W. Third St. is offering 1200 meals Thursday from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., according to Austin360.

Play at 620 W. Sixth St. is offering 150 meals starting at 5 p.m. according to Austin360. 

Uncle Nicky’s at 1123 E. 11th St. and 4222 Duval St. are offering 200 meals of pasta bolognese or pasta with vegetarian red sauce from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday, according to Austin360. 

Veracruz All Natural at The Line Hotel at 111 E. Cesar Chavez St. is offering 300 free tacos beginning at 5 p.m. according to Austin360.  

The Well at 440 W. 2nd St is offering 600 free bowls of pho on Thursday until all gone, according to Austin360.
