No. 24 Missouri at No. 23 South Carolina, 3:15 p.m. – SEC Network
Two teams that have had unexpected seasons will meet this Saturday in Columbia, South Carolina. Coming from Columbia, Missouri, are the Mizzou Tigers who have disappointed and will face the South Carolina Gamecocks, who have become a surprise team in the AP Poll.
Missouri started the season ranked No. 9 but has since dropped to its currentposition at No. 24. Though the Tigers are coming off a win over Oklahoma, the Oct. 26 shutdown against Alabama during which the Crimson Tide shut out the Tigers to win 34-0 is still in people’s minds. Mizzou also struggled against Vanderbilt, barely scraping by with an overtime win.
South Carolina does have a win against Texas A&M, something that no other team in the conference can say this season. Missouri fell 41-10 in College Station, while Gamecock fans had the sweet feeling of rushing their home field as South Carolina defeated the Aggies 44-20.
The two teams are fighting to stay ranked, and it’s possible that the loser of the matchup will drop from the top 25.
No. 6 Tennessee at No. 11 Georgia, 6:30 p.m. – ABC
College GameDay will be traveling to Athens, Georgia this weekend to cover the ranked matchup between Tennessee and Georgia.
Georgia, who started the season as the top ranked team, dropped nine places in the poll after falling to Ole Miss 28-10. Both teams have had solid seasons, with Tennessee only dropping one game against Arkansas and Georgia two, against Alabama and Mississippi.
These two traditional SEC teams will have a lot to play for: Tennessee is fighting to stay atop the SEC rankings, while Georgia wants to move up from fourth place. This game could also be an elimination game in the College Football Playoff race.
This will be the highest ranked game of the weekend and is expected to present some great football. The last time they played in 2023 the Bulldogs won 38-10 in Knoxville. Now, the Vols want to give back the feeling at Sanford Stadium in front of thousands of Georgia fans.
Utah at No. 18 Colorado, 11 a.m. – FOX
Utah hasn’t been a name in anyone’s heads until its controversial one point loss to No. 7 BYU last weekend in an in-state rivalry showdown. Colorado, on the other hand, has been on everyone’s minds. The Buffalos are a solid team with a 7–2 record so far and two players on the Heisman watch list, including junior wide receiver/defensive back Travis Hunter and senior quarterback Shedeur Sanders.
The new Big 12 Conference member Utah is on a five-game losing streak and has only won one conference game, its opener against Oklahoma State, but the Utes have been narrowing the gap. The last three games against TCU, Houston and BYU have been a one touchdown or less difference game. Fellow newcomer Colorado is coming off a win against Texas Tech and will have the home field advantage, but the Utes could put up a good fight against the Buffaloes.
