Texas football redshirt freshman defensive back Wardell Mack was arrested early Wednesday morning and charged with a Class B misdemeanor of driving while intoxicated, according to Travis County online court records.
Mack’s bond was $3,000, and he was released the same day.
“We will continue to monitor the legal process, and the situation will be handled internally at the appropriate time,” head coach Steve Sarkisian said in a statement through a University spokesperson, according to KXAN.
Mack was signed in 2023 as a four-star defensive back. He was previously committed to Florida before flipping his commitment to Texas.
The 19-year-old appeared in four games for the Longhorns in the 2024 season before taking a redshirt year. He did not play in the team’s 14-7 loss against Ohio State on Saturday.
