Hanging from the stage, a green head hangs with a screen replacing its forehead, and a sea of fans dressed in green to match. Preceding the main performer, a DJ, guitarist and background singer walk on stage as the audience starts to cheer. Applause amplifies as Feid emerges wearing his signature white mask, sunglasses and backwards green baseball cap.
Salomón Villada Hoyos, known as Feid, performed on the T-Mobile stage Sunday at Austin City Limits Music Festival, impressing the large crowd filled with Feid fans and those awaiting headliner John Summit. Despite the diverse audience, Feid captured everyone’s attention with an energetic set, filled with dancing, jumping and running around on stage.
Opening with “PPCP” featuring Sky Rompiendo, the singer maintained original versions of featured tracks, using a backtrack in place of the co-performer.
“How are we feeling tonight, Austin City Limits? ¿Dónde están mis mamás latinas?” Feid yelled to the crowd before performing some of his most popular songs, “CHORRITO PA LAS ANIMAS,” “PERRO NEGRO” featuring Bad Bunny and “SE ME OLVIDA” featuring Maisak.
Next came “DALLAX,” one of his more emotional tracks about breaking up with a loved one, longing for them and calling them after a night of drinking. Sitting at the top of the green ramp placed center stage, Feid swayed back and forth, the audience swaying in sync.
Feid said he wanted to bring reggaeton to Austin, highlighting his people and their music. He also sang about women and relationships with songs such as “NOS DESCONOXIMOS” and “ALAKRAN.”
Using his gold mic as an imaginary guitar, the singer performed “Castigo” before transitioning into featured tracks once again. Although Feid delivered a standout stage presence, he relied on heavy backtracks during many songs, even those without artist features. During “CLASSY 101,” Feid didn’t even attempt to sing, as the microphone never approached his lips. However, his gray wife-beater, drenched in sweat, proved his effort and dedication to provide an entrancing show.
Wrapping up his set, Feid played “Feliz Cumpleaños Ferxxo” and “Hey Mor” featuring Ozuna, changing the vibe by performing tracks with more traditional reggaeton compositions and sensitivity than many of his other songs.
Before walking off stage, Feid played “LUNA,” featuring ATL Jacob, one final song that had everyone singing along.
