Most National Football League prospects spend the weekend of the NFL Draft glued to their televisions, anxiously awaiting a phone call from an NFL suitor. Defensive back Kris Boyd found himself throwing a football in his backyard when the Minnesota area code popped up on his phone.

Even two hours before kickoff, the excitement surrounding Texas’ Orange-White Spring Game was palpable.

“It felt really good to be back out on the field,” head coach Tom Herman said. “You could see guys that are hustling, guys that play with great effort, guys that make good decisions, and we saw a lot of that today.”

After Texas bagged the nation’s third-ranked 2019 recruiting class according to 247Sports, it’ll be carrying even more momentum heading to the offseason after a program-changing win in the Sugar Bowl over No. 5 Georgia. Here are some highlights from Herman’s National Signing Day press conference Wednesday.

Before Malcom Brown’s successful run at Texas and subsequent leap to the NFL, his immaturity as a freshman at Brenham High School almost cost him his career before it even began.

Texas was in perfect position. Up 21-20 in the third set against BYU, the fifth-seeded Longhorns were set up to get right back in the game after dropping the first two sets. But that’s where it all fell apart.

For the second year in a row, Texas missed out on a top-four seed in the NCAA Tournament despite winning the Big 12 regular season conference title.

Texas Tech is a name that has not sat well with Texas fans recently. Despite dropping six straight meetings from 2009–2014, the Red Raiders have come up victorious in two of the last three matchups with Texas. But the air raid offense is still alive and well in Lubbock, and Texas Tech will be looking to lay the knockout punch on the Longhorns’ Big 12 title hopes. If Texas wants to keep its season alive, here’s what it’ll have to do:

Halloween gives most people a chance to be creative. But the Longhorns? They arrived at Gregory Gym as themselves. After TCU pushed its last matchup with the Longhorns to five sets, there was no hiding No. 6 Texas’ identity Halloween night as the Longhorns picked up a 3-1 win.

Nearly at the midpoint of the 2018 season, Texas has found itself spending a lot more time in the air than on the court.

For the past three years, the Longhorns have enjoyed success against Baylor. In fact, the Bears are the only team in the Big 12 that Texas has been undefeated against over that span. If Texas wants to keep its win streak alive, here’s what it’ll have to do:

Kills by outside hitter Micaya White and freshman outside hitter Logan Eggleston started off the game and got Gregory Gym off its feet. The pair set the tone at the match, and the Longhorns just kept it going as No. 4 Texas dispatched Iowa State in straight sets (25-21, 25-22, 25-21), maintaining its perfect conference record this season.

Katerina Luketic's first year on the 40 Acres also happens to be her first time in the United States. With this comes the excitement of traveling to a new place and also a lot of emotions.

On Wednesday, Texas fans saw a strong, almost error-free effort indicative of a team that had made necessary adjustments. After a weeklong break from conference action, No. 4 Texas returned to the floor and promptly dispatched No. 21 Baylor in straight sets.

Kills courtesy of junior outside hitter Yaasmeen Bedart-Ghani and redshirt freshman Brionne Butler got Texas off to a quick 2-0 lead in the first set. That’s when Stanford’s Kathryn Plummer began Stanford's strong comeback.

Last December, Texas walked off the floor in defeat at the hands of the Stanford Cardinal in the Elite Eight of the NCAA Tournament.

On Thursday, No. 6 Texas finally returns to Gregory Gym for the Longhorns’ home opener against Texas State.

After falling to No. 8 Wisconsin on Saturday, No. 2 Texas bounced back in just under 12 hours with a quick sweep (25-21, 25-21, 25-15) against the High Point Panthers.

By the end of Friday’s match, freshmen led No. 3 Texas on the box score in kills, digs and blocks. The result? A four-set win (25-22, 25-23, 22-25, 25-18) over No. 18 Oregon.

The Red River won’t be crimson this year, at least on the volleyball court. The No. 3 Longhorns (16–2, 8–0 Big 12) came from behind on Sunday afternoon to take down Oklahoma in Norman, improving its win streak to 10 games.

Coming off a bye week, Saquon Barkley and the Nittany Lions jump right back into the action against No. 19 Michigan.

Senior Kansas outside hitter Madison Rigdon recorded one of her 20 kills to close out a convincing 25-18 victory in the third set, sending a raucous Lawrence, Kansas, crowd into a frenzy.

Penn State running back Saquon Barkley started off Week Five with a bang, taking the opening kickoff 98 yards back for a touchdown against Indiana.

For the No. 5 Longhorns, bitmojis brought out their best performance Wednesday night. Texas took care of business on “Bitmoji Night” against Baylor in a 3-0 sweep at Gregory Gym.

Texas volleyball claims its first conference win against West Virginia. 

Unusual. That’s one word to describe No. 6 Texas’ extended break heading into their out-of-conference finale against the UTSA Roadrunners.

Texas faced a raucous home crowd on Friday against No. 1 Minnesota. The game did not turnout like the Longorns expected after losing the match 3-1. 

The Longhorns bid California farewell after claiming a three-game sweep at the USD tournament, defeating Villanova, Georgia Tech, and then-No. 17 San Diego in the process.

College football is upon us once again. This season features a plethora of talented players across all conferences who can make their teamscontenders overnight.

Each time a Texas team wins a national championship, the Tower at the heart of campus gleams burnt orange with the number “one” lit on all four sides.

All-American senior Mark Anderson and freshman Grayson Campbell punched their tickets to the NCAA Championships in Indianapolis, with both claiming top-seven finishes in the one-meter finals at the NCAA Zone “D” Diving Meet in Columbia, Missouri.

For 37 consecutive years, the Longhorns have proven to be their conference’s swimming and diving powerhouse.
