The researchers developed GT Sophy, the AI program, using a technique called deep reinforcement learning, which researchers have previously used to train AI to beat humans in games like chess, Go and Jeopardy.
The team wants to eventually turn the gel into films that could be applied to windows to reflect light when it is hot and to allow light in when it is cold.
