A man convicted of a purse snatching outside a bar that left a Central Texas woman hurt has been sentenced to 45 years in prison.
A jury in Austin on Wednesday sentenced 30-year-old Steven Lawrence Keller for the May 2011 attack captured on security surveillance video.
Police say 42-year-old Merri Gale Hieger of Austin was slugged in the face and her purse was stolen.
Jurors on Tuesday convicted Keller of aggravated robbery in the attack that left the victim with dental damage and a facial scar.
Keller, whose criminal record includes burglary, robbery, unlawful carrying of a weapon and DWI, could have received life in prison. He must serve at least half of his 45-year prison term before being eligible for parole.
