After some defensive struggles,the Longhorns took a 24-9 lead over the Cowboys at halftime.

David Ash started for theLonghorns and was at the helm for the entire half.  Joe Bergeron started the scoring for the Longhorns when his 1-yard run on fourth down gave the Longhorns a 7-3 lead. 

The Cowboys accumulated 178 yards in the first 15 minutes of the game.  Two long passes, one being 82-yards, from Wyoming quarterback Brett Smith cost the Longhorns and led to a touchdown by Robert Herron. 

The Longhorns ended the first quarter with a 9-7 deficit.  But in the second quarter, both the offense and defense came alive.  Wyoming was only allowed 26 yards..

Ash’s pass to Jaxon Shipley gave Texas a 14-9 lead.  The Longhorns’ first attempt at the wildcat formation ended in a touchdown by D.J. Monroe off a handoff from Joe Bergeron.

Nick Jordan made his first career field goal with three seconds left on the clock in the first half giving the Longhorns a 24-9 lead.
