As the college football season slowly inches closer, Texas announced the kickoff times and television selections for four games this upcoming season.
Among those announced was the Longhorns’ annual Red River Showdown against Oklahoma, which will be played at 11 a.m. on Oct. 12, airing on FOX. This will be the second straight year the rivalry game will be slated for the early kickoff slot while airing on FOX.
The Longhorns’ matchups against Louisiana Tech, Rice and Texas Tech were also announced, with Texas opening the 2019 season at home against Louisiana Tech on Aug. 31 at 7 p.m., airing on the Longhorn Network.
Following the first game of the season, the Longhorns will host LSU before they will travel to NRG Stadium for its first road game. Texas will be up against the Rice Owls on Sept. 14 in the first contest between the two teams since 2015. Kickoff is at 7 p.m., and the game will air on the CBS Sports Network.
Texas will close out the regular season by facing Texas Tech at home on Nov. 29 at 11 a.m. Since the departure of Texas A&M, the Longhorns have rotated their Thanksgiving week opponent between TCU and Texas Tech, allowing them to play at home for six years until the 2018 season, when they traveled to Kansas. The Longhorns’ contest against Texas Tech is scheduled to air either on FOX or FS1.
ABC recently announced that Texas’ matchup against LSU will air Sept. 7 on ABC’s Saturday Night Football at 6:30 p.m. This is the first time the Longhorns will be featured on ABC’s primetime slot since 2013, and the first game in a home-and-aw series against the Tigers that will conclude in the 2020 season. With all three kickoff times announced for the Longhorns’ non-conference schedule, only the Big 12 conference games remain unrevealed.
