Following a report of a loud noise at the Texas Union at 10:20 p.m. on Wednesday, the UT Police Department cleared the Union as safe for re-entry an hour later. The source of the reported loud noise and suspicious activity were not located, and officers will remain on site, according to a campuswide email.
After clearing the building, the police searched the Union floor by floor, according to the email.
CBS Austin reported the Austin Police Department was assisting with a shots fired call at the Union Building.
UTPD spokesperson Noelle Newton said there was no evidence of gunshots.
According to the email, updates will be sent when more information is available and those who see anything suspicious should call 911.
