Texas softball’s weekend trip to Alabama for the T-Town Showdown tournament has been canceled due to concerns about the spread of COVID-19.
No. 3 Texas was scheduled to play five games over the weekend, including two matchups against No. 10 Alabama.
The decision came rather expectantly as sporting events nationwide have been canceled to prevent the spread of the coronavirus. Last night, the NBA suspended its season indefinitely, and this morning saw the postponement of the MLS and NHL seasons as well as the cancellation of all major conference tournaments in basketball.
Barring any future cancellations, the Longhorns resume play on March 20, when they will travel to Norman, Oklahoma, to face off against the Oklahoma Sooners. This three-game series will kick off the Longhorns’ conference schedule for the 2020 season.
