Texas’ football game against Kansas on Saturday has been postponed to Dec. 12, Kansas Athletics announced in a statement Wednesday afternoon.
Kansas failed to meet Big 12 position group requirements due to injuries and contact tracing, according to the statement. A minimum of 53 players is required to field a team for a game with specific thresholds for particular position groups, according to Big 12 cancellation protocols set ahead of the season.
Of the 825 COVID-19 tests the KU football program has performed since Nov. 8, five have come back positive on various testing days, according to the statement.
The Texas football team has not reported a positive COVID-19 test since June 18 when a total of 13 players contracted the virus. The Longhorns’ next game is scheduled for Nov. 27 against Iowa State.
