Fans donning pink glitter and star tattoos lined up outside of Moody Center to see the self-proclaimed “biggest band in the world,” 5 Seconds of Summer, on Sunday.
The pop-punk boy band performed in Austin for the first time since 2022 for its EVERYONE’S A STAR tour, promoting their latest album release from 2025. The band consists of lead singer Luke Hemmings, bassist Calum Hood, drummer Ashton Irwin and guitarist Michael Clifford.
Originally from Australia, the four-member band released its debut album in 2014 and rose to international fame after touring with One Direction on its Take Me Home tour in 2013. Since then, they have sold over 10 million albums and have become the only Australian band in history to hit No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with their first three full-length studio albums.
Their fan base is widely known for their loyalty, with most attendees having been fans since their awkward pre-teens, and who greatly contributed to the 2010s fangirl culture. Fans filled the Moody Center with an obsessive energy as they sang along to every word. 5 Seconds of Summer fans may be getting older, but the love for the Australian boy band remains as strong as ever.
