Freshman Cole Hammer led the Longhorns to their third second place finish this spring in the Texas’ final regular season event, the ASU Thunderbird Invitational.

The Longhorn freshmen put together a dominant performance again this week, boasting three top-10 finishes, including another runner-up by Cole Hammer.

Texas wrapped up its first tournament of the spring season Saturday at the Amer Ari Invitational in Hawaii. While the Longhorns’ performance was certainly worthy of an extended Hawaiian vacation, the season opener is just a small step toward the ultimate goal of a national championship.

Texas beat No. 1 Oklahoma State and No. 2 Oklahoma during the final round of the inaugural Big 12 Match Play Championship on Sunday en route to a third-place finish on the weekend.

In dramatic fashion, Texas came from behind after a slow start in the first round to win the Big 12 Championship for the second year in a row. Three individual top-10 finishes propelled the Longhorns to first place, eight strokes ahead of Baylor and Oklahoma State.

Texas wrapped up its last regular season tournament at the same course the PGA Tour started its season this year — the Silverado Resort and Spa in Napa, California. The Longhorns finished in seventh place with a three-round total of 874.

Laisne, the first French player to ever play for the women’s golf team, arrived at Texas with a standout resume.

Coming off a sixth-place finish at the Northrop Grumman Intercollegiate in Palos Verdes Estates, California, the Longhorns are set to tee off at Sewailo Golf Club in Tucson, Arizona, for the Wildcat Invitational.

Following a solid fall season which included five top-10 team finishes, Texas women’s golf now has its eyes set on the 2018 NCAA Championship.

In a landslide, Longhorns won the Betsy Rawls Invitational on Tuesday at the UT Golf Club. Led by senior Sophia Schubert, who won the individual portion of the tournament, Texas claimed victory by 15 strokes over second-place Furman.

Texas clinched its first top-five finish of the season at the Schooner Fall Classic in Norman, Oklahoma, over the weekend, finishing No. 4 overall behind the play of freshman Kaitlyn Papp and sophomore Emilee Hoffman.
