This season has been full of ups and downs for the young Texas team. But with tough opponents littered throughout the season, Texas doesn’t have time to get too high or sink too low on itself.

Week in and week out the Longhorns’ schedule has produced matchups against top-ranked teams across the country, and this week’s conference matchups against  No. 9 Texas Tech (14–3, 2–0) and No. 27 TCU (9–5, 1–1) are no exception.

No. 22 Texas (7–5, 1–1) comes into its first match of the weekend against Tech coming off a win over Oklahoma in Norman on March 19.

The Red Raiders are currently on a seven-match winning streak and have been climbing straight up the collegiate rankings. Tech has taken down seven ranked teams this season, and with some help from 17th-ranked junior Gabriela Talaba, the team looks to make Texas its eighth victim.

The Longhorns will rely on 37th-ranked freshman Bianca Turati and No. 84 freshman Petra Granic to lead the young team to an upset victory over the Red Raiders.

Turati continues to be the highlight of this Texas squad, consistently knocking off ranked opponents to take the collegiate rankings by storm as a freshman.

The first serve of the match against Texas Tech will be Friday at noon in Austin.

The Longhorns’ next matchup of the weekend comes against a TCU squad that has also had a season full of highs and lows. The Horned Frogs have yet to find consistency this season and will look to their star player, 81st-ranked senior Seda Arantekin, to provide a spark against Texas.

Texas will need to get off to a quick start in the doubles competition, relying on the 51st-ranked pair of freshman Petra Granic and junior Dani Wagland to get the ball rolling.

The Longhorns’ matchup against TCU will be at Whitaker Courts Sunday at noon as they look top pull their conference record up above .500.
