The Austin Police Department responded to a bank robbery at 1904 Guadalupe St., according to a campuswide text sent at 10:44 a.m.
The first alert said the suspect was on foot traveling southbound on Guadalupe Street away from campus.
A tweet sent by the UT Police Department at 10:59 a.m. initially said the suspect was seen in Rowling Hall, but a later text from UTPD confirmed the suspect was not in the building. Officers are maintaining a heavy police presence around the building, according to a text alert sent at 11:07 a.m.
The suspect is described as a 40-year-old male in an orange and grey shirt with glasses and a grey backpack, according to a text alert. UTPD was alerted about the incident by APD at 10:27 a.m, according to a campuswide email.
APD is currently investigating the incident, according to an email sent by UTPD at 10:50 a.m. The alert notified students to call 911 if they see anything suspicious.
