The Longhorns seemed unfazed by last week’s winter freeze and subsequent postponements as they dominated the University of Central Florida Knights this Saturday with a 4-0 victory at the Weller Tennis Center.

Texas freshmen dominated in the doubles matches on courts one and three. On court one, Lulu Sun and Kylie Collins handed the Knights their first loss of the day, clinching a 6-2 victory over No. 6-ranked Marie Mattel, a UCF sophomore. The duo appeared to be in perfect sync, not moving as individuals, but as a lethal pair with equally stunning focus.

Over on court three, freshmen stars continued to impress. Peyton Stearns, along with her teammate Charlotte Chavatipon, dealt another loss to the Knights in a 6-4 match. Stearns closed the contest with two shots that proved too powerful for her opponents to handle.

Claiming two victories in the doubles lineups, the spectacular freshmen pairs played a major role in capturing the doubles point for the Longhorns.

Freshman Charlotte Chavatipon landed an assertive single’s win, building her singles record to 10–1. Quick feet and explosive shots helped Chavatipon claim a 6-3, 6-2 win on court four.

Yet another freshman, this time Malaika Rapolu, offered her opponent no chance for victory in her singles match. With a powerful backhand and unwavering determination, Malaika scored a shutout for the Longhorns.

The overall performance of the freshman class was impressive and in line with their high recruiting ranking.

Five out of the six singles matches were played by Texas freshmen, and the new class did not disappoint. Notching two of the three victories for the Longhorns, Rapolu and Chavatipon propelled Texas into a 4-0 victory over the UCF Knights.
