Woman slain in Central Texas, teen suspect caught

LA GRANGE — A Central Texas woman has been found slain in a home and a 16-year-old boy allegedly linked to the death has been captured.

The Fayette County Sheriff's Office on Tuesday didn't immediately release the name of the woman discovered dead in a house near La Grange. Autopsy results are pending.

Sheriff Keith Korenek says the body was located Monday morning after authorities received a call about a deceased female. Further details weren't immediately released on who called.

Officials believe the teen stole the woman's vehicle. He was caught hours later at a home near Smithville.

The youth was being held at a juvenile facility in Victoria. Korenek didn't immediately say what charges the teen faces or any possible relationship to the victim.

La Grange is 50 miles southeast of Austin.
